THE OPPORTUNITY

The Registered Nurse in the Dialysis Unit is responsible for providing comprehensive, coordinated and individualized care to patients with chronic kidney disease who require hemodialysis treatments. The Registered Nurse is an active member of the multidisciplinary team that delivers care to patients and their families across the Regional Program. The satellite unit, part of the Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital regional dialysis program, provides dialysis treatment and support to patients receiving hemodialysis who reside in the North Simcoe area. Located at 611 Prospect Boulevard, this satellite unit features nine dialysis stations.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate will possess the following key competencies, record of experience and academic preparation :

• Current certificate of registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Compliance with College of Nurses quality assurance standards
• Minimum of one (1) year hemodialysis experience required.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
• 3-5 years of recent medical / surgical experience
• CNeph certification is an asset
• 3-5 years of recent hemodialysis experience in an acute care setting or a satellite unit is an asset
• Demonstrated ability to use critical thinking and problem-solving skills to ensure positive patient outcomes
• Demonstrated skill in establishing positive client / provider relationships
• Demonstrated ability to work independently within an interdisciplinary team framework
• Demonstrated teaching and patient advocacy skills
• Satisfactory work performance and attendance history
• Commitment to GBGH Values and Purpose Statement
• Demonstrated team leadership and communication skills
• Ability to support, mentor, and contribute to a collaborative and supportive dialysis team
• As a partially designated French speaking organization, French verbal and written communication skills are considered an asset in this position

HOURS OF WORK

Permanent Casual. Mainly call in and vacation relief. Required to provide availability for a minimum of six (6) shifts per month. Shifts include days, nights, weekends and statutory holidays. Shifts would include days, evenings, and weekends. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements and as per the ONA collective agreement.
