Duties
The Planner I reports to the Manager of Integrated Land Use Policy and Planning in Jasper National Park. This position is responsible for conducting policy reviews and providing recommendations to senior decision-makers, supporting Indigenous and public consultation for Parks Canada and third-party projects, and representing Parks Canada as a regulatory authority in the review of third-party development proposals.

Parks Canada is a federal government agency dedicated to protecting and presenting Canada’s outstanding natural and cultural heritage through a network of national parks, national marine conservation areas, and national historic sites across the country.
Intent of the process
This competition will be used to fill a one-year term position ending March 31, 2027. The position is based in Jasper, AB, and temporary housing may be available for the successful candidate. A hybrid work arrangement, including weekly in-person days, may be considered for candidates commuting from outside the Jasper area. This process may also be used to create a list of qualified candidates to staff similar positions with various tenures and Parks Canada locations.

Conditions of employment

Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university with an acceptable specialization in land use planning, geography, biology / ecology, environmental design / science or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience in a related field.
