An exciting opportunity exists in AHS, Calgary Zone. The South Health Campus (SHC) is a full service hospital that provides services to Calgary in high need areas including Women’s Health, NICU, Emergency, Surgery and Mental Health.
The SHC is more than just a hospital . It is a campus environment and includes inpatient, outpatient, and wellness services, as well as prevention and public health learning opportunities for the community.
The campus also includes a YMCA and retail services. The Cardiac Inpatient (ACU 66), working collaboratively with all the clinical teams spread across the South Health Campus, is in the process of hiring a Unit Clerk.
Our unit offers a unique opportunity to work with acute General Internal Medicine and Cardiology patients in a modern environment.
The Unit Clerk, under minimal supervision, is essential to the smooth and efficient operation of the nursing unit. As the initial contact person, the Unit Clerk is instrumental in facilitating communication between patients and families, other clinical departments and the staff on the Unit.
The incumbent is accountable and responsible for completing duties in Epic Connect Care in relation to admissions, transfers, discharges, and referral management.
During downtime procedures the Unit Clerk is responsible for printing relevant clinical data.
Description :
As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information.
You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and / or treatments.
You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.
Required Qualifications :
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.
Additional Required Qualifications : Preferred Qualifications :
Recent experience (within the last 3 years) on an acute care Cardiology Unit.Experience with Kronos ESP scheduling system.
Demonstrated intermediate skill level in data base management, spreadsheet, and word processing.Demonstrated understanding of and experience in patient and family centered care.
Excellent interpersonal relationship skills.Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary team members.
