About the Role :
The Associate Director, Accounting reports directly to the Director of Finance and oversees all accounting services for the organization. This role ensures the integrity of financial records, including endowment entries, and acts as a key resource for tax receipting processes. The Associate Director leads the year-end audit process and plays a pivotal role in maintaining compliance with CRA regulations.
Responsibilities :
- Supervise all accounting services and fund accounting functions for the organization
- Provide expert support for tax receipting and ensure compliance with tax and finance policies.
- Lead the annual audit process.
- Oversee the Funding Enhancement Initiative (FEI) policy and process.
- Prepare quarterly financial statements and endowment financial reports, ensuring financial record integrity and controls.
- Manage financial records such as bank deposits, revenue posting, and journal entries.
- Supervise accounts payable and ensure adherence to procurement policies.
Qualifications :
7-10 years of progressive accounting and supervisory experience.CPA Designation requiredAdvanced understanding of charitable accounting, including restricted fund and endowment accounting in complex fund structures.Advanced Excel skills.Strong business acumen aligned with organizational mission and goals.Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.Proven leadership experience with a team of accounting professionals.Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail.
