About You / What We Are Looking For
The City is seeking a candidate who enjoys complex accounting and budgeting work, as well as consistently evolving technologies in support of the Finance Department. The Senior Financial Analyst will form part of our Financial Planning team, reporting to the Financial Planning Lead and working closely with the analysts in the department. This is an exciting opportunity to assist in preparing the City’s annual Five-Year Financial Plan, including liaising with peer departments and assisting in their annual budget submissions, ensuring financial information aligns with City procedures and polices, preparing budget documents and materials, and working on a variety of financial planning-related forecasting and analytics. The successful incumbent will be analytical, detail-oriented and independent as working with significant data sets will be critical for the preparation of financial analyses, budget presentations and reports, data visualizations, and relative correspondence. You will have advanced Excel skills to structure and analyze large volumes of data while working in a fast pace, deadline-oriented environment.

The Senior Financial Analyst will bring forward a thorough understanding of accounting principles, practices, procedures, systems and controls. This includes being familiar with laws and regulations governing the work that we do, but also excellent skills in commonly used computer applications and the ability to effectively communicate with others.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will hold a university degree in Accounting, Commerce or a related discipline, and must hold a CPA designation and be proficient with Microsoft Excel.
Assets
Experience with budgeting, long-term forecasting, systems including PeopleSoft, Oracle and Maximo is preferred. Previous government or municipal experience would be considered an asset.
What We Offer
This CUPE position has an hourly rate range of $45.75 - $54.03 (2025 rates). The rate of pay is based on a variety of factors including qualifications, knowledge, experience and skills.
