Our client, an equipment Manufacturer & Distributor is looking for a Financial Controller to join their team in GTA, Canada.
Our client is seeking a strategic and hands-on Financial Controller to lead their accounting and finance team and play a key role in driving organizational success. This position oversees a team of four direct reports and is responsible for ensuring accurate accounting and financial management, compliance, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader with a strong technical foundation who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys mentoring and developing their team.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Manage the organization's financial & accounting resources and ensures operations comply with financial & accounting regulations and standards.
- Analyze and interpret financial accounting data to advise and support strategic decision-making and achieve business objectives.
- Review financial accounting reports to understand & advise of past variances and future forecast variances and identify areas to improve efficiency or implement cost-savings.
- Develop processes, policies, and controls to manage workflow and ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial & accounting operations.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of four accounting and finance professionals, fostering growth, accountability, and collaboration.
- Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with Canadian and US accounting standards.
- Oversee General Ledger, cash flow management, journal entries, fixed assets, A / P, A / R, Invoicing, Inventory, Cost Analysis & Pricing
- Research and promote financial modeling and analytical tools to measure and forecast the impact of various economic scenarios, risks, and business changes.
- Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and municipal tax regulations and reporting requirements.
- Manages Canada and U.S. books, taxes, cash flow and exchange rates.
Qualifications :
Requires a bachelor's degree or diploma in business or accounting designationCPA designation considered an asset (CA, CGA, or CMA).Minimum of 7+ years of progressive accounting / finance experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity.Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting standards, tax compliance, and financial regulations.Good basic knowledge of U.S accounting standards, tax compliance, and financial regulations.Excellent leadership, communication, and team-building skills.Proven ability to analyze complex financial and accounting data and present clear, actionable insights.Proficiency with ERP / accounting systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.Key Competencies :
