Responsibilities
- Act as the primary analyst for the Office of the Vice President Finance and Administration (VPFA), independently gather, evaluate and synthesize data and information from across the University to inform decision making. Analyze financial, operational and strategic trends; identify key insights; and prepare concise summaries, visuals and recommendations for review and presentation.
- Devise solutions and provide high-level, practical and impartial strategic advice to senior management on complex, multi-faceted planning, project and governance issues, including information and analysis to support confidential employee collective agreement negotiations.
- Draw on research, writing, data analysis, and communication skills to produce high-quality professional, accurate reports and briefing papers for executive and governance committees, including the University’s Five-Year Capital Plan, capital project plans, sections of the University’s Annual Report, and activity reports for the Board of Governors and the senior executive team.
- Assist in planning, preparation, and compilation of the Strategic Plan for the University, including drafting and analyzing surveys for various internal and external stakeholder groups, participating in extensive internal and external consultations, analyzing diverse information, influencing others beyond authority to reach consensus on complex questions, and incorporating multiple rounds of feedback following self-editing and feedback from senior executives. Monitor and report on performance against the strategic plan between strategic cycles.
- Serve as project manager or lead coordinator on strategic initiatives and special projects under the VPFA portfolio. This includes scoping project objectives, developing work plans, coordinating cross-functional input, and ensuring completion within scope and schedule, including reporting on progress. Provide independent work and autonomy in fulfilling these duties.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring collaboration, communication, and follow-up on key priorities. Represent the VPFA Office with professionalism, discretion, and tact.
- Other duties that are broadly in line with the above key responsibilities.
- The University of Lethbridge is undertaking a job classification and compensation review for Administrative Professional Officer (APO) positions. As such, the salary range currently assigned for this position may be adjusted as a result of this project.
Position Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Public Administration or a related field.Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preference.Salary Information

Full Salary Range (at 1.0 FTE) : $75,303.80 - $114,160.09 annually (APO - Grade 4)
