Marshall Land Systems requires a Health, Safety, Security & Environment Specialist/Supervisor in Moncton, NB to join our team. Reporting to the Quality, Health, Safety, & Environmental Manager, this role is responsible to provide environmental, health and safety support to the manufacturing facility through the creation and maintenance of processes and procedures, risk assessments, education, and audits.
Your responsibilities in this role:
Health, Safety, & Environment:
- Promote and create awareness for compliance of customer HSE requirements, regulatory and industry requirements, and internal company guidelines throughout the organization
- Monitor the HSE program to ensure a safe and compliant working environment
- Ensure all HSE practices meet or exceed provincial and regulatory requirements and applicable industry standards
- Lead the maintenance and ensure effectiveness of the HSE Management System to ensure the continuous improvement business model is achieved, including the development of supporting Standards and Procedures
- Maintain a Safety Management System framework in compliance with all relevant and required regulatory requirements
- Maintain HSE related items at all levels (emergency evacuation to corporate initiatives)
- Report to top management on the performance of the HSE management system including targets and objectives
- Identify, evaluate, and document hazards and risks associated with work activities
- Maintain and update Risk/Hazard Assessments and Environmental Management Plans
- Deliver monthly safety talks, training, and communication to ensure all employees and contractors are informed of and adhere to HSE policies
- Lead and document incident investigations
- Prepare reports, track corrective actions, and ensure continuous improvement of health, safety, and environmental practices
- Chair HSE committee meetings, prepare agendas, distribute materials, and oversee follow-up on action items
- Conduct periodic safety inspections of the Moncton facility and ensure corrective actions are promptly addressed
- Collaborate with management and stakeholders to cultivate a strong safety culture across the organization
- Coordinate inspections with regulatory agencies and ensure non-conformances are addressed and resolved with the Operations Manager
- Assist with managing work-related injuries and ensure compliance with workers' compensation reporting requirements
Security Management Role (Designated Official under Controlled Goods & Security Clearance Program):
- Act as Designated Official for CGP and as the Alternative Security Officer onsite, leading all related activities, including registrations, amendments, enhanced security screenings and inspections
- Facilitate personnel security clearances and administer security briefings
- Maintain an up-to-date registry of security-screened employees
- Assist internal employees and subcontractors through the security screening process
- Facilitate updating the company's Security Plans as necessary
- Develop and deliver security training for staff to ensure compliance
- Ensure adherence to the Government of Canada's Controlled Goods policies and procedures
- Act as the point of contact for onsite government inspections and inquiries
- Facilitate the initiation and sponsorship of subcontractors (e.g., Marshalls subcontracts), guiding them through the registration and clearance processes
- Ensure the proper completion and submission of required security documentation for personnel clearances and subcontractor sponsorships
- Ensure maintenance of logs and manage the allocation of keys and badge assignments
- Other duties as assigned
Apply if you have most of the following:
- University degree preferred
- Degree or diploma Environmental Health Safety program or industry recognized program with OHSE related certification
- Minimum 5 years' experience in Occupational, Health and Safety role in a manufacturing environment
- Must have, or be eligible for CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) designation
- Well versed in New Brunswick Workers Compensation Act and New Brunswick Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Bilingual English/French preferred
- Knowledge of key elements of an OHSE program including ISO 450001, 14001, and OSHAS 18001 standards
- Experience in incident investigations, root cause analysis, workplace inspections, hazard analysis, risk assessment, safe work and best preventative practices or job safety analysis development, employee relations
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, superior organizational abilities, and excellent computer skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to be tactful, while maintaining a calm demeanour
Must be eligible to meet the requirements of export control regulations, including the Canadian Controlled Goods Program and Canadian government security requirements.
