Positive Living North (PLN) is an Indigenous community‑based organization providing care, support and advocacy for people living with, vulnerable to, and affected by HIV / AIDS / HCV. We are seeking an exceptional candidate for the Nutrition Coordinator position at our Fire Pit Cultural Drop‑In Centre, our off‑site street‑level prevention program.

Location : Prince George, BC, Canada

Position Summary

This is a full‑time position (32.5 hours per week). The wage is $20.00 per hour.

Candidate Profile

We seek a dynamic individual who can comfortably, confidentially, and compassionately work in an environment which respects diversity and has the ability to deal non‑judgmentally with issues such as addiction, poverty, homelessness, mental health complications, and the legacy of multi‑generational trauma.

Qualifications

  • Formal cook / chef training or equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Food Safe Certificate
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s license and access to a vehicle
  • Understanding the issues that impact homelessness and risk for HIV / AIDS
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work as a member of a team and be open to receiving group feedback on performance
  • Personal characteristics that enable you to work in a dynamic, challenging and rewarding environment.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of a weekly menu
  • Maintenance of supply inventory
  • Development of a weekly purchasing supplies list
  • Preparation of daily meals
  • Maintenance of statistical data on daily access to services
  • Coordinate and maintain kitchen facilities at the Fire Pit
  • Coordinate and secure food donations
  • Ensure that the Fire Pit kitchen facilities meet all applicable health regulations
  • Participate fully, in a cooperative and collaborative manner, as a team member of both the Fire Pit and Positive Living North
  • Attend monthly Fire Pit Staff Meetings and other required meetings
  • Complete all other related duties as requested by your Fire Pit Supervisor.
