As a Plumber with Vancouver Coastal Health you will :

• Perform skilled work at the journeyman level in the repair, maintenance and installation of plumbing systems, fixtures, apparatuses, control equipment and piping equipment used in medical gases, lab gases, water supply, fire protection systems, and waste drainage systems throughout the hospital.
• Inspect and test cross connection and backflow prevention systems in compliance with applicable codes and regulations.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Certificate of Apprenticeship or Trades Qualification Certificate as a journeyman Plumber.
• Valid Certificate of Competency as a Cross Connection Control Specialist issued by the American Water Works Association, British Columbia Section.
• Two (2) years’ recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Class B level Gas Fitter’s License with an electrical endorsement recognized by the Province of BC may be required depending on site specifications.

• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to deal with others effectively.
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
• Ability to organize work.
• Ability to operate related equipment.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.

Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.

As per the current Public Health Orders, as of October 5, 2023, all employees working for Vancouver Coastal Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or have received a single dose of the most-recent, updated COVID-19 vaccine.

Proof of vaccination status will be required.
