12-Month Term, Department of Political Science – Faculty of Arts
The Department of Political Science invites applications for a 12-month term position. The successful candidate will teach the following courses:
78.272 Comparative Politics
78.392 Democracy and Democratization
78.452 Issues in Comparative Politics
Plus two other courses in the candidate’s area of specialization.
The successful candidate will join a department with supportive colleagues that are actively working towards equity, diversity, inclusion, and decolonization in their research and teaching programs. The candidate will have opportunities to develop their career and have access to a Professional Development Allowance. Additionally, multiple professional mentorship opportunities are available to the successful candidate. Willingness to participate collegially in service to the department, university, and the community that it serves will be expected.
Qualifications: The essential qualification is a PhD in Political Science with a specialization in, and ability to teach, Comparative Politics. The ability to teach Political Theory and Analysis will be considered an asset. ABD applicants nearing completion prior to the start date of the appointment may be considered. Applicants may seek to establish an experiential/traditional equivalency to the Doctorate degree and are invited to contact the Office of the Dean of Arts on how to establish equivalent academic or professional credentials.
Applicants must demonstrate teaching competence and expertise in the field and must have an active research agenda.
Rank: Commensurate with qualifications and experience
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
