What You Will Do
Reporting to the Manager, Asset Management and Planning as a leader in the Grid Modernization department, you will contribute to a diverse range of initiatives, including distribution infrastructure projects, electrification, innovation, and grid modernization efforts. Below are the detailed responsibilities for this pivotal position.
Provide leadership, mentorship, and technical guidance to GIS staff, including GIS Technicians.Oversee the administration, development, and maintenance of the corporate GIS platform (AutoCAD Map 3D and Esri ArcGIS) and ensure its integration with other enterprise applications.Manage GIS system update including software, databases, and hardware, ensuring system reliability, data integrity, and cybersecurity compliance.Develop and implement web services and mobile Apps to support asset management, operational planning, and business decision making.Supervise routine GIS record update and oversee QA&QC processes.Provide support to the GIS team as well as cross-functional departments such as Operations, Engineering, Stations, Metering, and Customer Services.Liaise with IT, vendors, consultants, and external agencies to implement GIS enhancements, troubleshoot issues, and ensure software compatibility.Plan and organize GIS-related training programs for staff and support change management initiatives.Stay up to date with emerging GIS technologies, industry trends, and regulatory requirements.Support project planning, budgeting, and resource allocation for GIS-related initiatives.What You Will Bring
D iploma or a university degree in Geographic Information Systems, Engineering, Electrical Technology, or a related field.Minimum of five (5) years of GIS database administrator and application developer experience, preferably within the utility industry.Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a GIS supervisory role preferred.Strong proficiency in GIS systems, including AutoCAD Map 3D, ArcGIS, Geodatabase administration, and SQL queries.Knowledge of electrical distribution systems, infrastructure mapping, and asset management.Proven experience in team leadership, project management, and staff training.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.Experience in change management and process optimization related to GIS implementations.Additional requirements include excellent interpersonal and communications skills, including the ability to interact with all levels of staff and managementDemonstrated ability to make sound judgements and adapt to change.
