Job Description
Reporting to the Director, Governance Practices and Transformation, Business Governance and Controls, the Instructional Designer, Regulatory Programs will play a critical role in driving larger scale changes to enable our advisors and field leaders meet regulatory requirements and expectations and to ensure that we maintain a strong risk and compliance culture while delivering on client and advisor centric experiences.
The Instructional Designer, Regulatory Programs will be responsible for creating engaging and effective learning experiences by analysing learning needs, designing curriculum, and developing educational materials and programs. This role combines educational theory, technology, and creative design to facilitate knowledge transfer and skill development to support delivery of projects and programs on cross business Retail Advice & Solutions (RA&S) initiatives to support the development and maintenance of advisor business practices aligning with regulatory requirements as well as business priorities.
You will bring an innovative and creative mindset with strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize workloads to meet deadlines, communicate effectively with colleagues and various levels of management, enjoy building new programs and processes with a background in wealth and / or insurance.
What will you do?
- Design and development - analyzing learning needs, learning objectives and outcomes, creating instructional materials including e-learning modules, presentations, job aids and assessments, design interactive and multimedia learning experiences
- Content creation – write clear, engaging instructional content, collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure content accuracy, create assessments, quizzes, case studies and evaluation tools, develop instructor guides and learner materials while ensuring content aligns with learning objectives and goals
- Technology Integration - utilize learning management systems (LMS) and authoring tools, incorporate multimedia elements (videos, animations, simulations), stay current with educational technology trends
- Project Management - manage multiple projects simultaneously with varying timelines, coordinate with stakeholders, SMEs, and development teams, ensure quality assurance and testing of learning materials
- Partner with training specialists and subject matter experts (SMEs) to develop advisor and manager training materials such as online courses, software simulations, job aids, facilitator or learner guides, audio scripts, interactive PDFs, PowerPoint presentations
- Collaborate with other areas within BG&C, RA&S and other partners to achieve strategic goals
- Apply your knowledge of adult learning principles and modern learning tools and techniques to design clear, concise, engaging, effective and interactive learning experiences for advisors and managers
- Work with a style guide and established process checklists to provide quality assurance support of various deliverables to ensure correctness and consistency in training and standards
- Import courses and materials into the Learning Management System and test form, function and usability
- Manage the process for obtaining approvals of training materials, communications, emails e.g. PRP, legal and compliance reviews
- Prepare and submit materials for translation
- Assist with training, support and guidance to other instructional designers as required

2-5 years of instructional design experience in a corporate or educational settingPost secondary educationDegree, diploma or certificate in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, and / or Adult Learning is preferredStrong understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies (ADDIE, SAM)Proficiency in PowerPoint to develop advisor-facing materials with the ability to design completing visual presentations and proficiency in the Microsoft suite of productsExperience with developing SharePoint collaboration sitesFamiliarity with data analysis and learning analyticsExperience with authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia), graphic design capabilities (Adobe Creative Suite) is an assetExperience with HTML 5, responsive design, SCORM, LMS functionality, video editing and multimedia production skills are an assetMutual fund and insurance industry experience are an assetWhat’s in it for you?
