Position Details
The Director, Financial System Support and Development supports existing financial systems and will work closely with functional leaders to explore, develop, and implement new and improved processes involving technology. This position will also support the operational synergies, efficiencies, productivity, strengthening internal controls, and enhance the overall achievement of business outcomes within the Financial Services units and within cross functional teams that support the financial accounting system.
The Director will be responsible for identifying, maintaining, and implementing practical and sustainable solutions.
This is a full-time, continuing position reporting to the Associate Vice-President (Finance) to start as soon as possible. The Director will play a pivotal role in determining the strategic priorities for the Financial Services department.
Duties / Responsibilities Include :
- Work closely with Financial Services’ leadership and other functional units to assess existing processes and workflows and develop strategies and business case proposals for implementing proposed new technology supported solutions.
- Work with the core team on an institutional project aimed at modernizing our Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
- Act as a project manager for Financial Services to oversee finance implementation project life cycles, including coordination with various University departments on the integration of third-party systems with the financial ERP system.
- Support change management through consultation, communication, and training to ensure successful implementation of system process changes.
- Design, test, implement and monitor new processes that support the strategic growth of the financial system and create lean processes.
- Ensure system process changes are compliant with applicable regulatory requirements and ensure the processes maintain strong internal controls.
- Troubleshoot system issues and investigate and implement solutions for correcting the issues.
- Oversee and act as data custodian for the finance system, which includes responsibilities around safeguarding access to financial data and overseeing and coordinating the testing of new financial system upgrades.
- Extract, validate, and summarize data for reporting purposes.
- Represent the interests of Financial Services on systems & data governance committee meetings.
- Supervise a team of three analysts and one administrative assistant, with future supervisory responsibility for a financial systems analyst who will work primarily on the ERP modernization project.
The University of Lethbridge is undertaking a job classification and compensation review for Administrative Professional Officer (APO) positions. As such, the salary range currently assigned for this position may be adjusted as a result of this project. Position Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and will have accounting and systems experience including project and people management.A CPA (or in progress) is preferred but is not required if a candidate has significant experience with system administration and implementation in a finance and accounting environment.Knowledge of PSAS accounting standards will be an asset.Project management, business analyst, and business intelligence experience are required, as is experience with large ERP systems and complex databases.The successful candidate will be required to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check.Starting Salary Range (at 1.0 FTE) $87,035.58 - $109,490.73 annually Full Salary Range (at 1.0 FTE) $87,035.58 - $131,945.88 annually (APO - Grade 5)
