Field Technician – Grande Prairie, AB
Benchmark Data Solutions is an Alberta-owned and operated company with over 20 years of experience providing remote communication services, primarily to the oil & gas industry. We are seeking a skilled and experienced Field Technician with a background in telecommunications or IT to join our team. The position offers a Northern Living Allowance and competitive benefits.
A Day in the Life :
- Confirm schedule with customers.
- Prep and load equipment at the shop, using your company-provided truck.
- Travel to locations (typically 3-6 hours one-way).
- Complete all required pre-job safety paperwork.
- Safely and efficiently install equipment (rig intercoms, cellular boosters, satellite dishes, etc.), keeping a clean and organized workspace.
- Check in with the customer, test equipment, complete inventory paperwork.
- Head home or stay overnight at a hotel to avoid driving tired.
Key Responsibilities :
Complete safety documentation for every job site, including Pre-Job Assessments and Inspections.Install and service rig intercoms, cellular boosters, satellite dishes, and portable cellular towers.Manage and organize customer site and staging area inventory and equipment.Maintain cleanliness and readiness of shop supplies and equipment.Process service tickets and related documentation promptly for accurate invoicing.Keep all company property, including truck, tools, and equipment, in top condition.Work with and manage specialized equipment and hand tools.Perform additional duties as required, including travel and overnight stays in camp or hotel accommodations.Qualifications :
Proven experience in telecommunications, IT, or a similar field.Willingness to travel to remote drilling and completion sites.Comfortable with heights; climbing rigs (derricks) up to 160’ is required.Team-oriented and safety-minded, with a focus on personal and team safety.Proficient in computer software and hardware troubleshooting.Motivated to learn new technologies, open to coaching, and willing to share ideas.Professional, courteous communication skills for customer interactions.Available for overtime, including evenings, weekends, and on-call as required.Why Join Benchmark?
