Job Description

We are currently seeking a qualified Environmental Inspector South Civil  to join our Infrastructure team, based out of Toronto, ON. The Environmental Inspector will be responsible for supporting environmental compliance programs on the project and have the opportunity to work with the Integrated Delivery Partner project team on the Ontario Line, Metrolinx subway project .  The south civil scope of work spans from one above-ground station to be integrated with the exsisting GO Transit Exhibition Station to two underground stations to be integrated with existing TTC Osgood and Queen subway stations and also four new undergground stations (King / Bathurst, Queen / Spadina, Moss Park, Corktown). The project scope includes the design build, operations and maintenance of all infrastructure and rail systems associated with 16km of new alignment, 15 new stations and related works being performed by three key P3 Contractors and multiple advanced early works (EAW) packages Contractors. Bechtel’s team forms the key component of the overall leadership team, having delivery partner responsibilities supported by two other components, Technical Advisor (TA) and Program Controls Services Consultant (PCSC). Duties & Responsibilities :

  • Support Environmental Compliance programs on the Project
  • Provide technical and administrative assistance to Field Services teams and other functions on environmental policies and programs
  • Work in collaboration with stakeholders to monitor contractor activities for environmental compliance within the assigned area
  • Review mapping of environmentally sensitive areas, determine potential impact due to construction activities and monitor compliance on the field
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify and mitigate / manage environmental risks through field inspections and monitoring
  • Consult with appropriate agencies regarding environmental issues and monitor regulations
  • Inspection of project sites to ensure environmental compliance with the regulatory standard and procedures
  • Monitor, log and report on environmental requirements of the Project, escalate critical items as required

Qualifications

  • Degree in Environmental or Geological Sciences or Engineering (or similar field of study) or equivalent
  • Minimum of three (3) years of environmental / industry work experience in construction industry
  • Experience working with Provincial (Ontario) and Federal environmental regulatory agencies and knowledge of Municipal. Provincial and Federal regulatory requirements
  • Excellent leadership skills to act as a role model, promoting a positive influence on the work of others through demonstration of technical expertise and effective interpersonal skills
  • Ability to establish collaborative and effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
