Description for Internal Candidates

Sun Valley Co-op is currently looking for an individual to join our team at the Altona Gas Bar location in Altona, MB in the part-time position of Barista.

What you'll do :

To come to work with a positive, professional approach and attitude.
To provide outstanding courteous customer service at all times.
Create a welcoming atmosphere for customers, engaging in friendly conversations, etc.
Prepare and serve coffee, espresso drinks, and other beverages according to standard recipes.
Prepare food from our menu according to standard recipes.
Operate coffee-making equipment, including espresso machines, grinders, and blenders.
Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including coffee bar, equipment, and washing dishes.
Process payments and manage cash register transactions accurately.
To ensure that the departments receiving and handling of merchandise meets all Sun Valley Co-op’s policies, procedures and standards.
To ensure that the Co-operative’s equipment is being operated and maintained in a safe and responsible manner.
To be responsible in the area of loss prevention.
To conduct “manage by walking around” tours to ensure that the co-operative’s standards are being met and to correct any areas in which the standards are not being met.
Other duties as assigned.

Who you are :

Previous experience in a customer service role, preferably in a café or restaurant setting is preferred.

Knowledge of coffee preparation techniques and a passion for coffee culture.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.

Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Basic math skills for cash handling and transactions
