THE OPPORTUNITY
The HR Technician completes a wide range of administrative and logistical (including catering coordination) functions and projects in support of the Talent Management (learning and development) program at BCI. This may include such tasks as : coordinating all logistics for both in-person and virtual training, meeting with vendors, writing contracts, visiting venues to assess if appropriate for training and working with procurement to move contracts forward.
The HR Technician maintains processes relating to talent management and may act on behalf of the Senior Advisor as required. The Technician may also provide administrative and logistical support to the Senior Manager, Talent Management and Manager, Organizational Change Management (OCM) on larger projects within the department, including training and development, succession, mentoring, competencies, career pathing, OCM and D&I initiatives.
WHAT YOU BRING
Completion of a two-year diploma in HR / related field or equivalent
3+ years office experience with preference given to those with experience in an HR environment
Proficient skills in Microsoft Office (in particular Excel), Adobe, and SharePoint with preference given to those with Workday Learning experience
Ability to work effectively with broad direction in a close interdependent team environment
Strong organizational skills with a high attention to detail
Ability to multi-task and seamlessly change priorities when required
Ability to work with a diverse range of investment professionals in a proactive and confidential manner
Working level understanding of the HR industry
Proficiency, comfort and confidence when dealing with all levels within an organization

Knowledge of budget process
Knowledge of or experience with procurement and contracts
WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
The Talent Management team provides strategic oversight and administration of the talent management lifecycle from world class learning and development programs, performance management cycle, succession planning, and career pathing, to organizational change management leadership. Talent Management works closely with other HR functions, in particular Business Partnership, Equity Diversity Inclusion & Employee Experience, and Total Rewards to provide the training and development necessary that support current and future business needs.
WHAT YOU WILL GET TO DO
Using your ability to multi-task and stay organized, coordinate internal / external / virtual training and development activities, including updating BCI’s learning management system (LMS), scheduling training, preparation, and delivery of learning materials and training packages and securing training space
Coordinate contract administration for Talent Management including maintaining Talent Management budget and relationships with vendors
Maintains the LMS needs for employees / departments, including updates to training records
Responds to queries regarding training reimbursement policies, professional development plans, and general Talent Management topics
Supports training analyses to evaluate effectiveness through survey development and administration
Monitors HR Training email inbox and responds to employee queries
Reconciles personal corporate credit card
Processes invoices from multiple vendors
Supports the research and development of the monthly learning and development newsletter
Prepares updates and documents regarding Talent Management-related activities or updates for posting on Intranet; represents HR on Corporate Intranet Committee; liaises with Communication team for HR communication needs
Represents HR on internal committees as required
Participates in special projects as assigned by the HR team to facilitate current and efficient HR processes, practices and procedures
Provides back-up to other HR Technician and HR Advisors, as and when required
Actively adheres to compliance and risk management policies
WHERE YOU WILL WORK
Work from our downtown Victoria office. We are an in-person collaborative organization with the flexibility to work remotely 1-day a week. Please note : Delivery of BCI’s training program may required 5-days in the office at times and travel to our Vancouver office may be required on occasion.

SALARY RANGE
BCI offers a competitive total rewards package which includes a performance-based incentive plan, comprehensive health & dental benefits, a defined benefit pension plan and paid time off.
The annualized base salary range for this Victoria-based role is CAD $64,000 to $75,000.
The base salary offered to the successful candidate will consider a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill set, level of experience applicable to the role they are being offered and consideration to internal equity.
We pay our people competitively in the markets in which we compete for talent and with consideration to internal equity and job structure. We aim for actual pay to be around the median of the market for target or expected levels of performance, and around the upper quartile of the market for excellent performance.
Actual salaries may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors, including, but not limited to, experience and expertise.
