Contract, Vehicle Technician
Key Job Elements :
- Perform Rebuild / Retrofit tasks and other general assembly duties, while under supervision of a qualified Technician
- Clean vehicles and or parts as directed by trained Technicians
- Assist Technicians in other functional areas as required
- Prepare vehicle for interior and exterior painting by scuffing applicable surfaces, employing proper masking techniques, and remove rust
- Understand and apply the company safety policies and relevant Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulation and Code
- Report any accidents, incident, and near misses and injuries
- Follow company medical and first aid procedures
- Use safe work procedures

Responsibilities
Physical Conditions and Hazards :
The conditions in which an individual or staff works, including but not limited to such things as amenities, physical environment, stress and noise levels, degree of safety or danger, temperature, location.
1) Nature of Supervision : Medium (Some Self-directed work)
2) Work Interruptions and Distractions : Minimal to medium
3) Physical Environment : manufacturing / shop floor, some office
4) Hazards : Heavy machinery including but not limited to fork trucks and cranes, noise, dust, paint, temperature fluctuations, hand tools
Physical Demands Description :
Typical postures may include standing, sitting, squatting, kneeling, crouching, bending, lying down and reaching at working heights ranging from below floor level to overhead.
Tasks required on the interior of the vehicle will require working in a vertical space of 105 to 135 cm and may involve sitting, crawling, crouching, stooping, bending, twisting, kneeling and / or lying down to access some areas, as some tasks require working in areas with space constraints.
The worker may also be required to lay on a creeper to complete work under the vehicle. Vertical clearance under the vehicle is approximately 65 cm.
Sustainment ship floor employees are required to climb on / off vehicles, which may include climbing through roof hatches, rear openings, and / or the driver’s hatch.
It is common for Assemblers / FSRs to complete many assembly tasks in the same area of the vehicle while maintaining static or similar postures for a period of time.

Medical Surveillance
May include : Inoculations, Respiratory Fit, Audiometric Testing, Designated Substance Surveillance, Vision, Anthropometrical Size Restrictions depending on task
Personal Protective Equipment :
Applicable when interacting with shop floor (safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection. extraction coveralls)
Qualifications
Required Qualifications :
- 310S License or equivalent
- Minimum 1 -2 year’s relevant experience
- Proficient communication, organization and prioritization skills
- Experience working with teams and / or customers
- Must be able to work swing shift
- Must be able to work in confined spaces, and perform physical tasks i.e. lifting, climbing
- Must be able to meet Anthropometrical Size Restrictions for confined space
Preferred Qualifications :
Experience in a Shop / Manufacturing Environment
