Position Summary

To ensure an effective, efficient and safe shipping and receiving area
To lead and engage the hourly group to ensure production receives all materials on time and in full
To ensure finish good shipments are sent out on time and in full directly from Walkerville site and Pike Creek facility
Inventory and excise control of all dry and finish goods at the Walkerville facility

Key Responsibilities

OHSA - Ensure compliance of Occupational Health & Safety Act (section 25, 26, 27, and 28) per Hiram Walker & Son’s Ltd Policy- Management-Supervision-Worker Safety Responsibilities.

Customer Service – ensure product is delivered on time and in full; internally and externally

Resource Management – ensure efficient and effective use of resources – including people, space, equipment and facility

Direct supervision of Material Handling Utility Operators and Receivers to ensure maximum effectiveness in resource utilization, logistical efficiency, product quality, operating costs, production schedule attainment and customer service.

Inventory Accuracy & Excise Compliance

Dry supply and finish good cycle count

Direct shipments to customers

Shipments to Pike Creek facility

Supervision of shuttle services

Management of people including scheduling, Kronos, absenteeism, discipline and conviviality

Execution Overhead & CAPEX Budget

Continuous Improvement

Health & Safety. Responsible for the development, implementation, and ongoing management of food safety systems specific to department which includes, but not limited to the organization’s products, processes, equipment and food safety hazards within the ISO 22000 scope

Financial responsibility for Operational & Overhead : $2,000,000CDN (Level : C) and Capex : $200,000CDN (Level : C)

Internal, regular, work related contact with :

Master Scheduler – daily contact to ensure product is available for shipment and customer’s demands are met

PR USA- contact to ensure US outbound loads meet customer demands

Human Resource – recruitment, training and personnel issues

Director of Risk Management – Health and safety, ISO compliance

Maintenance Manager – ensure work orders are completed

Quality Department to ensure dry supplies and finish good are in compliance

External, regular, work related contact with :

Carriers – ensure meeting their contractual obligations and expediting loads

Contractors – obtaining quotes and ensuring work is completed according to contract

Customers – Jim Beam, Gibson. Corby, PRUSA

Excise office –ensure finished good and barrel inventory compliance

Required Skills & Abilities

Minimum 5 years Supervisory experience in Distribution / Material Hanlding

Thorough understanding of inventory management and warehouse systems including JDE database

Excellent verbal and communication skills

Able to multi-task and troubleshoot effectively

Problem Solving, root cause analysis

Strong Communication skills

Health and safety compliance

Accident / Incident investigation

Education

Required :

Undergraduate Degree

Preferred :

Bachelor Degree in Business / I.T. / Logistics

Financial Responsibility

Participates in goal setting and accountable for own, limited budget for asset administration and goals

Operates in predetermined limits
