Position : New Westminster Community Connector Team Leader

Work Site : 422 Sixth Street, New Westminster

Wage : $28.00 / hour

Hours : 15 hours / week (in office)

Employment Type : Part-time, Contract position (Contract Ends in March 2028)

Purpose Society is a community-based, multi-service non-profit organization delivering a continuum of social, health, educational, and housing programs to children, youth, and families across the Lower Mainland. The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly organized and community-driven Project Team Leader to lead the implementation of the SDI Community Connector (Community Broker) model in New Westminster. This role is part of a multi-year pilot project funded through the Service Delivery Improvement (SDI) stream of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), aimed at improving access to settlement services for newcomers through neighbourhood-based outreach and support.

What You’ll Do

Coordinate recruitment, training, and onboarding of ‘Community Connectors’ in collaboration with the SDI Pilot Project team.

Ongoing supervision of the ‘Community Connectors’

Liaise with Local Immigration Partnership (LIP) table, municipal departments, schools, health authorities, and other stakeholders to support project alignment and community engagement.

Support the development and implementation of Community Action Plans and culturally responsive outreach strategies.

Facilitate regular meetings with Community Connectors and project partners to ensure consistent communication and collaboration.

Monitor project progress and ensure timely submission of reports, data, and deliverables as outlined in the agreement.

Maintain accurate records and contribute to evaluation activities, including data collection and performance measurement.

What We Are Looking For

Qualifications

Diploma / Degree from a recognized educational institution in a relevant discipline (Community Development, Social Work, Public Health, Education) – or equivalent proven experience in a similar role.

Strong understanding of newcomer needs, local service systems, and community engagement in New Westminster.

Experience working with diverse populations using trauma-informed, culturally safe, and inclusive practices.

Experience in community engagement strategies

Job Skills and Abilities

Demonstrated experience in project coordination, including managing timelines, deliverables, and reporting for funded community-based initiatives.

Familiarity with Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approaches and strengths-based engagement strategies.

Excellent organizational, communication, and facilitation skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and digital tools for project management and reporting.

Training in trauma-informed practice, GBA+ (Gender-Based Analysis Plus), or intercultural communication is highly valued.

Lived experience as a newcomer is a strong asset.

Fluent in English, French and additional languages are an asset.
