We are looking for our next upbeat and experienced Intermediate Underwriter to join our Connect Direct Team. We want someone passionate about making it click for our agents and clients by improving customer satisfaction and making timely and well-reasoned underwriting decisions. Our underwriting center is expected to deliver an exceptional client experience whenever contact is made.

What you'll do

Provide technical support and underwriting coaching for agents and brokers on difficult and / or complicated risks.

Contact our customers, when required, on risk-related questions and follow-ups.

Work in an underwriting queue, using phone, chat, and other means to answering underwriting referrals, authorizing binding of policies, and applying rules and guidelines in a full production environment.

Approve cancellations, lapses of renewal policies, and re-rating of policies.

Review existing client files to ensure all actions have been taken to improve the profitability and long-term success of our existing portfolio.

Analyze relevant reports (such as home inspections, motor vehicle reports, and claims reports) to assess risk and claims exposure.

Underwriters are expected to continuously update their soft skills through identified e-learning courses, and build their product / industry knowledge through CIP, FCIP or other related industry accreditations.

What you'll bring

Two years of personal lines insurance experience.

Preference will be given to candidates holding an OTL License.

CIP, FCIP, CRM designation either completed or in-progress.

Strong negotiation skills.

Proven leadership capabilities.

The ability to think strategically, champion the brand, and make effective decisions.

A track record of building trust and strengthen operations relationships with partner areas.

A desire to develop the skills, understanding and knowledge of all those you come in contact with daily.

The ability to foster collaboration between teams and between underwriting and other business units.

The focus to set a clear vision, embrace and support challenge and change, influence others and eliminate ambiguity.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Excellent decision-making and analytical skills.

Organized and strong time management skills.

  • Flexibility is necessary as candidates will be required to work evening shifts and occasional Saturdays
