What is the Opportunity
As a Cloud Governance Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in shaping technical governance across RBC’s Hybrid Cloud and Intelligent Operations program. Your mission is to design, author, and maintain cloud controls that define secure, compliant, and scalable cloud platform configurations across Azure, AWS, and GCP. You will translate enterprise risk, regulatory requirements, and architectural principles into clear, actionable, and technically precise platform controls, ensuring they are enforceable through automation (e.g., guardrails, policy-as-code). This role demands a focus on control clarity, consistency, and enforceability, balancing governance rigor with engineering practicality.
Key Impact
Enable RBC’s cloud transformation by establishing a robust governance framework that mitigates risk while fostering innovation.
What will you do
- Author and maintain cloud platform controls, ensuring technical precision, platform specificity, and clarity on mandatory vs. discretionary requirements.
- Translate enterprise and regulatory expectations into risk-aligned, platform-implementable technical controls, collaborating with Cloud Security, Risk & Compliance, and Architecture teams.
- Manage the end-to-end controls lifecycle (draft, review, approve, publish, retire), including versioning, change control, and periodic relevance reviews.
- Define guardrail intent for platform standards, ensuring technical enforceability via tools like Azure Policy, AWS SCPs, and GCP Org Policies, and validating policy logic.
- Support exception workflows by assessing deviations, proposing compensating controls, and providing technical input for risk acceptance decisions.
- Act as a trusted advisor to product and engineering teams, explaining control rationale, application, and compliance expectations.
- Drive continuous improvement by refining controls based on monitoring feedback, eliminating ambiguity, and recommending new controls as platforms evolve.
