Tool and Die Maker - Oakville, ON
At Ford’s Oakville Assembly Complex, we are expanding and retooling our vehicle operations. Tool and Die Makers are paid a top hourly base rate of $53.00 per hour plus applicable shift, overtime, and holiday premiums.

Responsibilities
- Directly influencing the precision, quality, and efficiency of our world-class vehicles
- Adhere to all health and safety rules in compliance with government, industry, and corporate standards
- Maintain equipment and dies in a safe and efficient manner
- Apply exceptional craftsmanship and problem-solving skills
- Effectively maintain and troubleshoot critical tooling and dies
- Proactively collaborate with team members to anticipate and resolve complex challenges to ensure seamless production processes
- Provide troubleshooting and diagnostic excellence
- Participate in the training of Tool & Die Maker apprentices as required
- Coordinate die repair and preventative maintenance scheduling to meet job deadlines
- Generate and implement cost savings and process improvement suggestions
- Participate in problem-solving meetings to help eliminate downtime
- Accurately enter data into the maintenance tracking system, tracking time and details for follow-up and root cause analysis
- Assist other trades / operators as required
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications :
Has satisfactorily completed an apprenticeship training course in the trade and has obtained a Certificate of Qualification (CofQ) 430A, or, if a CofQ is not attained, applicants with 8 years of experience in the trade after receiving the CofQ (430A) will be consideredMust be able to work all shifts (days, afternoons, midnights) on a rotating schedulePreferred Qualifications :
Setup and operation of CNC Milling machinesAbility to work effectively in a collaborative and supportive team environmentAluminium stamping experienceGeneral knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and Forming Limit Diagrams (FLD)Understanding and expertise in draw die forming, maintenance of beads, trim steels, and pierce operationsExperience in automotive stamping facilities, class 'A' die repair, welding on castings and tool steel, and use of hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instrumentsTroubleshooting die issues in tandem presses and transfer pressesOperating lathes, mills, surface grinders, radial drills, and other metal-cutting equipmentHome line commissioning of stamping dies or tooling, initial run troubleshooting, and adjustments to meet production specificationsNote : Successful candidates may be required to provide proof of education degree completion. For degrees obtained outside Canada, an Education Credential Assessment showing Canadian equivalency may be required.
