About the position
Reporting to the Supervisor of Festivals and Events, the Festivals and Events Support Student will be responsible for assisting the Festival and Events Recreation and Concerts on the Canal Coordinators with the planning and hands-on delivery of City hosted and partnered events.
Duties & Responsibilities
The duties listed are not meant to provide a description of each and every job performed but only those which represent the core functions of the job.
- Assist in ensuring proactive planning, communication, scheduling, and hands on delivery of a wide variety of events, such as Family Day, Victoria Day, Canada Day, Concerts on the Canal, Flatwater regattas, etc.
- Work with partner community festival and event delivery organizations, such as BIAs.
- Assist in the program content development for events, participate in planning meetings
- Securing equipment / rentals / services for festival and events
- Coordination of operational and administrative activities related to the Festival and Event Strategy
- Participation in meetings for event planning and S.E.A.R.T.
- Contribute to the festival and event promotions
- Being onsite for the delivery of City hosted and partnered festival and events as required
What you need to Succeed....
- Enrolled in post-secondary studies in Event Management or Recreation and Leadership.
- Prior work experience in an office setting is considered an asset.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, as required.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to effectively balance multiple priorities.
- The ability to deal effectively and courteously with the public.
- The ability to work independently, and as part of a team.
- Expertise in a variety of computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Salary and Benefit Information
Salary : $18.85-$19.38 (2024 rate) plus OMERS pension is available
Hours of Work : up to 40 hours a week.
