The Role
Reporting to the Head of Cyber Security (UK based), this is a hands-on, leadership role responsible for the investigation of IT security alerts and incidents, including the monitoring and maintenance of security tooling, Security Incident & Event Management (SIEM), anti-virus, and vulnerability management platforms.
Please note this is a pioneer position in Halifax, Canada. Whilst we build out the team, the position is home-based and requires you to be comfortable working some what solo in this area (both Halifax, and Cyber) for a couple of weeks / months.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach and mentor local Cyber Security Engineers and Analysts
- Act as the point of escalation for incidents and issues (which may include outside of standard business hours on occasion)
- Operational IT security, including the monitoring and maintenance of IT security tools, such as Security Incident & Event Management (SIEM), anti-virus, and vulnerability management platforms
- Validation and risk assessment of newly identified vulnerabilities
- Assist with task planning and delegation for team members
- Review and / or make changes to technical policies
- Support the CISO to deliver risk-based improvements, including public-facing websites and services
- Assist with IT security gap and risks assessments including CIS, ISO 27001 and Cyber Security Essentials
- Assist with internal audit and external audit
Skills and experience required
Extensive practical operational security experience within a large, complex organisationDemonstrable experience of working with a variety of teams including development, data, project and IT Service desk to support their respective BAU activities and project objectives.In depth knowledge of IT systems and applications, with ability to communicate information to both tech and non-tech stakeholders.Confident managing third party supplier relationships.Experience of implementing and maintaining a cloud strategy.A solid understanding (and ideally, practical knowledge) of IT security best practice, common attack types and detection / prevention methods, including CISecurity Benchmarks, OWASP and NIST guidelines.Regularly review all aspects of the IT infrastructure and recommend improvements where appropriate, promoting a continuous improvement mindset across the team.Share best practice and promote innovation.Previous leadership, mentorship and / or people management experience within a security setting.Experience of working within regulated businesses, a plus.One or more relevant IT security qualifications from a recognised body, such as GIAC GSEC and ISC2 CISSP, desirableExperience of working within agile project environments may be advantageousIf you'd like to know more about how Davies will process your application data, please download our privacy policy : https : / / daviesgroup.current-vacancies.com / OneAccount / Account / DownloadPrivacyPolicy / 1546
