Lumber Sales Manager – Canada & Export
Lead a high‑performing team and drive growth across Canadian and global markets
Step into a pivotal leadership role where you’ll set direction, develop talent, and deliver results. You’ll lead a diverse sales organization, develop market strategies, be the primary seller for key accounts, and deliver revenue and inventory targets while maximizing margin.
What You’ll Lead & Deliver
- Team leadership & performance : Build, coach, and manage the domestic and international sales team - owning performance, training, development, and workload distribution.
- Strategic customer relationships : Cultivate senior‑level partnerships; leverage deep understanding of domestic and international customer needs and manufacturing capabilities to create strategic initiatives that deliver superior value
- Pricing, inventory & product strategy : Actively manage, price and sell major accounts.Analyze trends and team performance using analytic tools; provide guidance on pricing, inventory management, and product line strategies.
- Major contract negotiations : Lead and approve annual and quarterly commitments; set strategic direction on committed pricing and volumes; approve day‑to‑day transactional sales outside the norm.
- Market intelligence & P\&L accountability : Monitor domestic and global industry conditions, competitor activity, and pricing to inform product, pricing, inventory, and customer strategies; own the sales department budget and understand mill / business P\&L drivers.
- Issue resolution & escalation : Act as the escalation point for significant disputes and claims resolution.
Qualifications
What You Bring
Proven success building strong relationships with Canadian and Export customers; sharp understanding of segment needs.Demonstrated ability to set and deliver strategic goals, using data analysis tools to inform tactics and strategy; proficiency with Microsoft Office.Track record managing large contracts and integrating logistics, base price, and product adders; strong competency in high‑stakes negotiations and growth.Deep knowledge of regional manufacturing capabilities, products, and financial levers driving profit and loss; broad industry insight (customers, competitor products, marketing strategies).Proven leadership as a mentor and coach, with strong communication and collaboration skills and effective partnership with company support functions.
Qualifications
Prefer Bachelor’s degree and 7–10+ years in wood products or a related industry, including leadership; or High School / GED with 12+ years related experience, including leadership.Lumber sales experience in domestic and Japanese marketsAs this role also supports the Japanese market, proficiency in spoke Japanese is an asset but not a requirementCompensation : This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $122,100 - $180,100 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 13% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.
