Sales Manager – Western Canada
Process & Steam Specialties is a privately‑owned company headquartered in the greater Toronto area, specializing in industrial valves and steam ancillaries. The Sales Manager – Western Canada is responsible for developing new accounts and generating new business from existing accounts across Western Canada. The role reports to the General Manager and requires strong relationship building, sales leadership, and strategic account management.
Responsibilities
- Sell mechanical industrial process steam system products across Western Canada.
- Build and execute sales strategy for Winnipeg and other strategic cities.
- Prospect, qualify, cultivate new sales leads and enhance existing account sales.
- Partner with specification engineers or key peers to close complex/technical sales requiring expertise.
- Participate in hiring process of new Sales representatives.
- Build, manage, mentor, and grow sales representatives within assigned territory.
- Responsible for firing, performance appraisals, and pay reviews of direct reports.
- Train staff, set quotas, allocate resources to ensure revenue targets are met.
- Connect and build trust with current and potential customers through face‑to‑face meetings, phone and internet interactions.
- Convert qualified leads into clients via tailored discovery discussions, requirements gathering, and meaningful solutions introduction.
- Optimize customer satisfaction and retention by supporting customers through each stage as part of company customer experience program.
- Review customer inquiries documentation to determine appropriate products and services selection, including order notations related to exceptions, deviations and rebates.
- Respond to customers’ requests for clarification on quotation and purchase order requirements.
- Assist with technical advice for products and services, day‑to‑day operations, and sales initiatives such as product presentations, trade show participation, product training, client visits.
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records on CRM system of all important customer correspondence, quotations, commitments, contracts, etc.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 10 years of experience selling mechanical industrial process steam system as a sales manager or field specialist, with proven success.
- Minimum 6‑7 years building a sustainable and impactful sales pipeline, developing relationships with major Canadian based distributors, and achieving sales targets.
- Good technical level understanding of a few relevant products from at least three of the following brands: Flowserve, ITT, Asco, Halonium.
- Successful experience in customers’ accounts ongoing maintenance and service.
- Bachelor's Degree in Sales, Business Development, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, fire protection and safety, manufacturing, or equivalent education/training/experience.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of mechanical industrial process steam system, instrumentation, controls, and metering fields.
- Proven mastery of sales techniques, ability to identify improvement opportunities, train and coach peers.
- Self‑motivated, able to work independently and manage budget.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to present effectively to executives, managers, and field personnel.
- Strong negotiation skills; ability to close complex deals.
- Effective organizational skills; able to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- Capability to transfer knowledge, mentor others, and demonstrate confidence and trust with customers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, PPT, Teams, Outlook); French language an asset.
Working Conditions
