We are currently seeking a detail-oriented Package and Deployment Administrator to manage the packaging and deployment of Windows applications and patches across our enterprise environment using Altiris. This role requires technical expertise in application packaging, deployment methodologies, and maintaining the integrity of software distribution infrastructure to ensure seamless delivery of applications and updates to end users. Key Responsibilities :
o Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Windows Server environments
o Ensure system reliability and performance through proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization.
o Maintain backup and disaster recovery strategies to minimize downtime and data loss.
o Coordinate patch management, updates, and security measures to protect systems from vulnerabilities.
o Administer virtualization platforms (e.g., Hyper-V, VMware, SimpliVity, Citrix) and cloud services (e.g., Azure AD, Microsoft 365).
o Collaborate with other local and global IT teams (network, security, database and application teams) to design and implement integrated IT solutions along with day-to-day activities.
o Develop and enforce standard operating procedures, documentation, and best practices for the team.
o Evaluate emerging technologies and propose enhancements to improve infrastructure efficiency and scalability.
o Participate in budget planning for hardware, software, and team resources.
o Ensure compliance with organizational policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements
o Create, test, and maintain software packages for Windows applications using industry-standard packaging tools and methodologies
o Ensure packages meet organizational standards for deployment, including silent installation parameters and proper configuration
o Troubleshoot and resolve packaging issues to ensure successful application installations
o Maintain a library of standardized application packages and deployment scripts
o Deploy Windows applications, patches, and updates to workstations and servers using Altiris
o Schedule and coordinate deployment activities to minimize business disruption
o Monitor deployment success rates and troubleshoot failed installations
o Perform testing in pilot groups before enterprise-wide rollouts
o Manage patch compliance and ensure systems remain current with security updates
o Collaborate with application owners, security teams, and other IT groups to understand deployment requirements and dependencies
o Work with the Windows administration team to ensure compatibility and proper system configuration
o Develop and maintain documentation for packaging standards, deployment procedures, and troubleshooting guides
o Participate in change management processes and communicate deployment schedules to stakeholders
o Provide reporting on deployment metrics, compliance levels, and system inventory
o Administer and maintain the Altiris deployment infrastructure
o Create and manage deployment policies, tasks, and automation workflows
o Ensure the Altiris environment remains optimized for performance and reliability
o Stay current with Altiris updates and implement enhancements to improve deployment efficiency
Profil
Minimum relevant experience : 5 years
Mandatory Technical Skills :
o Proficiency in application packaging tools and formats (MSI, MSIX, App-V, or similar technologies)
o Experience with scripting languages for deployment automation (PowerShell, VBScript, or batch scripting)
o Strong understanding of Windows Installer technology and silent installation parameters
o Hands-on experience with Altiris Deployment Solution or similar enterprise deployment platforms (Altiris, SCCM, or equivalent
o Knowledge of Active Directory, including user accounts, group policies, and security settings
o Understanding of Windows operating systems (Windows 10 / 11, Windows Server) and their deployment requirements
o Familiarity with Group Policy Objects (GPO) and their impact on application deployment
o Strong understanding of networking protocols (DNS, DHCP, TCP / IP) relevant to software distribution
o Experience with Windows patch management and update deployment processes
o Knowledge of IT security best practices and vulnerability remediation
o Understanding of software compliance and licensing requirements
o Familiarity with security testing and validation procedures for packaged applications
o Hands-on experience with virtualization environments (VMware, Hyper-V) for testing purposes
o Understanding of change management processes and ITIL frameworks
o Ability to troubleshoot complex deployment issues and analyze system logs
o Experience with inventory management and software asset tracking
