Keyano College's Sport & Wellness Centre requires leave coverage for our Guest Services Coordinator position. This position works in a high-energy, fast-paced environment. We are seeking a friendly and motivated Recreation staff to join our team. This role involves providing excellent customer service, ensuring the facility remains clean and safe, assisting with special events, and enforcing facility policies.
The Guest Services Coordinator reports directly to the Recreation Manager. While working in our high energy environment you will be responsible for the day-to-day activities as it relates to the operations of the centre. They are also responsible for training front of house staff, scheduling front of house staff, maintaining a clean and welcoming facility and assisting with special events.
Note: this is not a remote work opportunity, you will be required to work on campus and relocate to Fort McMurray, AB.

Keyano College- Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre is dedicated to providing high-quality recreational opportunities for our community. We operate state‑of‑the‑art facilities designed to promote health, wellness, and community engagement.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Greet and assist patrons, answer inquiries, and provide facility tours.
- Process memberships, handle transactions, and maintain accurate records.
- Set up and take down equipment for sports, fitness classes, and events.
- Monitor the facility, enforce rules, and ensure safety standards are met.
- Support special events, tournaments, and programs as needed.
- Answering incoming calls, filing and reception validated and processing memberships and program information through Activenet software, cash handling processes.
- Conducting facility checks noting equipment and facility maintenance and damage, organizing equipment, equipment lending, cleaning fitness centre equipment, general maintenance of equipment, equipment set‑up and tear down.
- Event support.
- Onboarding and training new front of house staff.
- Daily deposits.
- Front of house work scheduling.
- Member cancellations.
- Corporate memberships.
- Canteen operations for special events.
- Maintain a high level of customer service, ensure the facility is a welcoming and safe space.
Hours of Work:
The position requires availability from 4:45 am – 11:00 pm, including weekends and statutory holidays, covering sick call outs, etc. General work week will be Mon‑Fri 10a‑6p.
- Successful candidates must be able to attend training shifts both opening and closing the facility.
- Successful candidates must provide availability to work a minimum of one weekend shift/month.
Qualifications
- Minimum high school diploma or GED required.
- Must be proficient in conversational English.
- 1–1.5 years of previous experience in front-line customer service required; preference in a sport or fitness facility.
- Ability to physically set up and tear down all facility bookings and/or events, pre/post event cleaning.
- Team members must be able to multi‑task, to work independently or as a member of a team, and to communicate openly with fellow co‑workers as well as guests.
- Candidates must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Familiarity with sports or personal fitness.
- Standard First Aid – CPR level C is considered an asset.
- Previous experience playing or working in sports.
- Familiarity with Activenet software is considered an asset.
- Pro Serve is considered an asset.
