Established in 1993, SCIREQ and its subsidiary emka TECHNOLOGIES are world leaders in precision laboratory instruments for preclinical research. We are seeking a results-driven financial controller with strong organizational skills and experience with multi-ERP systems to join our Finance and Accounting Department.
Based at our head office in Montreal, reporting to the Director of Finance and Accounting, and collaborating with our accounting technicians in Canada, France, and the US, the Controller will ensure accurate recording of financial transactions, support informed decision-making, and drive efficiencies across the organization.
The ideal candidate will have an education as a CPA or related diploma, with a keen interest in working in a small business environment focused on cutting-edge technology.
Key Responsibilities :
Accounting & Financial Operations
- Oversee and ensure accurate recording of financial transactions (receivables, payables, payroll, etc.)
- Lead month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries
- Manage cash flows between different business units
- Prepare timely and accurate financial statements and internal reports
Strategic & Operational Support
Lead the preparation and review of budgets and forecastsAnalyze financial performance and provide insights to managementSupport operational teams with financial analysisIdentify opportunities for cost control and efficiency improvementsDevelop and maintain internal financial policies, procedures, and controlsAssist in identifying and mitigating financial and operational risksEnsure compliance with financial regulations and standardsProvide financial reporting to the executive team and board as neededCoordinate with external auditors for annual financial statementsPromote a culture of accountability, integrity, and continuous improvement within financeQualifications :
Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting and finance experienceExperience with ERP systems (e.g., Odoo, NetSuite, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics) – requiredStrong understanding of IFRS for small business and financial statement preparationAbility to create and manage internal accounting policies and proceduresStrong analytical skills and attention to detailFluency in French, both written and spokenExperience with French and US accounting standards is a plusExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsExperience in a small business or R&D / manufacturing environment is an assetWhat We Offer :
