Summary

As a Water Treatment Operator, you will be part of a team of operators who help run the industrial wastewater treatment plant (WTP), a multi‑facility storm water collection system, domestic wastewater treatment plant, potable water filtration and disinfecting plants, and other equipment as required. Your contributions will help ensure ongoing success of Keno Hill’s ability to operate in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.

About Us

The Keno Hill mine, located within the Keno Hill Silver District in Canada’s Yukon Territory, is one of the highest‑grade silver districts in the world. Situated 350 kilometres north of Whitehorse, it lies within the traditional territory of the First Nation of Na‑Cho Nyak Dun and comprises 242 square kilometres with numerous mineral deposits and more than 35 historical past‑producing mine sites. Keno Hill is expected to produce 2.7‑3.1 million ounces of silver in 2025 as the mine ramps up production. The mine is owned and operated by Hecla Mining Company, headquartered in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

Here’s What You Can Expect In This Role

• Use field instrumentation for daily water readings.
• Navigate and use the online PLC systems to control and operate the treatment system, acknowledge alarms, retrieve historical alarm data, and make process changes.
• Perform laboratory process control work, including water sampling techniques, calculations for sample dilutions, lab testing, AI machine operation, and calibration of lab and online process instrumentation.
• Record treatment plant operational data on daily spreadsheets.
• Prepare day tanks for chemical distribution systems, including safe makeup line and polymer day tanks.
• Apply various treatment technologies used at the mine, including clarifier theory, coagulation‑flocculation processes, and breakpoint chlorination.
• Other duties may be assigned.
• Help promote a strong environmental culture and teach environmentally friendly practices.
• Help foster a strong safety culture and exemplify safe work practices.

Work Environment

The work environment involves exposure to outdoor weather conditions, extreme temperatures, hazardous wildlife, moving mechanical parts, elevated work areas, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, explosives, electrical shock, vibration, and sometimes loud noise.

Work Location & Schedule

This is a fly‑in fly‑out position based at a remote mining camp, operating on a rotational schedule of 14 days on and 14 days off. Camp accommodations and meals are provided while on site. All travel to and from the mine site is arranged through a designated travel agency and coordinated from approved flight hubs. We seek candidates who reside in the Yukon, British Columbia, and Alberta, especially near major transportation centers.
