Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated nursing educator to develop and deliver staff development programs, ensuring high quality care and resident satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify educational and training needs in the facility to ensure quality of care and services.
- Design, develop and coordinate delivery of Staff Development Programs to meet these needs.
- Ensure good resident outcomes and satisfaction through staff training.
- Develop general orientation and ongoing educational programs based on staff learning needs.
- Communicate the planned program to encourage participation, involvement and support.
- Provide programs to enhance the working life and increase knowledge and esteem of the staff.
- Evaluate effectiveness and quality of Staff Development Programs against appropriate objectives and standards.
- Receive feedback from staff and department heads on training programs.
- Monitor new technology and trends in service delivery and ensure staff are trained appropriately.
- Maintain staff attendance in‑service records and quality management activities for the program.
- Be knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights / Governing Principles and promote them.
- Establish adequate resource material on health‑related books for nutrition, activation and environmental departments.
- Perform clinical teaching sessions on the units as needed.
- Participate in QE / RM meetings.
- Teach health and safety issues such as WHMIS, lifts and transfers and back care in consultation with the Cambridge Head Office and the Health & Safety Consultant.
- Carry out legislated duties for health and safety as per the certification training program.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) with current registration with the provincial licensing body.RN, RPN or other healthcare disciplines with a diploma in Gerontology, Nursing Administration, Rehabilitation, Long Term Care or equivalent.Completion or work toward an adult education course at the community college level is considered an asset.Good written and oral communication skills.Strong motivational and time‑management skills, good inter‑departmental communication and leadership skills.Strong working attitude and team‑building skills.Management‑certified Health and Safety Representative.Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.Current (within 6 months) Vulnerable Position / Sector Screening (VPS).Extendicare Core Competencies :
