On-Call Substitute ESL Teacher

Role: On-Call Substitute ESL Teacher

Reports to: Director of Studies

Location: Vancouver British Columbia (In Person Classes)

Description:

ILSC-Vancouver is seeking qualified and dynamic ESL Teachers available for on-call substitute teaching between the hours of 8:30am and 5:15pm Monday through Friday.

Successful candidates will be comfortable teaching a diverse range of adult English Language programs and courses in a hybrid classroom setting (in-person with simulcasting).A TESOL certification from a Canadian-approved institution is required for this position.

This position requires union membership. A Criminal Record Check is a requirement of employment. Applicants must be eligible to work in Canada.

Job Duties:

The duties of this position include but are not limited to:

• Teaches lesson(s) prepared by the classroom teacher utilizing various materials and technologies as required.
• Leaves details for the teacher when finished covering the class to support a smooth transition back to the classroom teacher.
• Maintains current and accurate class records.
• Enters attendance records into computerized database daily.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications Skills and Attributes:

• Ability to communicate fluently and accurately in written and oral English
• Demonstrated proficiency with current technology tools and online learning platforms including:
• Microsoft Office Suite specifically Outlook Teams SharePoint and Excel
• Zoom and Teams in a classroom setting
• Online and hybrid teaching experience preferred
• Demonstrated to deal effectively and courteously with students and staff who may come from differing cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize organize and complete tasks with minimal supervision.

Education and Experience Required

• Bachelors degree from a recognized university
