We are looking for a Full Stack Developer (API) who can design, develop, and maintain multi-layer APIs. You will also be responsible for providing and receiving cross training (front end / back end), conducting code reviews, utilizing best practices, and ensuring the quality and delivery of code for our projects in a team-based environment. You will collaborate with team leads, project managers, and stakeholders in an agile environment. This is a great opportunity for developers that want to be on the ground floor of our modernization initiative to help set the scene and standards of our TDD, microservice-first approach.

A Day in the Life

Design, develop & maintain APIs using a variety of programming languages

Implement back-end features using Java, Spring Boot and other modern technologies

Creation and management of microservices

Implement front-end features using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React

Write unit tests, integration tests, and end-to-end tests via TDD

Optimize the stack for performance, security, and scalability within new projects and existing code

Work with our DevOps team to improve our CI / CD pipeline

Follow best practices and coding standards

Document code and functionality

Contribute to component library to ensure robust component-based framework

Contribute to creation and sustaining measurable and actionable development KPIs

Lead a team of developers, conduct code reviews, mentor junior developers, and ensure the quality and delivery of the projects

Collaborate with team leads, project managers, and stakeholders in an agile environment

Design, develop & maintain web applications with OOP

Decision making, logic and reasoning- Understanding of front-end features using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React

Creation of back-end services using RESTful APIs, microservices, etc

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or commensurate work experience

5+ years of experience as an API or back-end developer or similar role

Development experience with AWS cloud services (Lambdas, API Gateway, Graphql, EKS, ECS, AWS Cli, AppSync)

Cloud Devops experience (Code pipeline, Code build, Shell scripting)

Proven experience with strongly-typed OOP back end programming, its associated concepts and patterns

Experience with development tools such as Maven, NuGet, etc.

Experience with relational and non-relational databases such as PostGres, MongoDB, etc.

Experience with Git as a version control tool and a branching methodology such as GitFlow

Experience with developing net new microservices

Experience with DevOps tools such as Jenkins

Preference given to candidates with containerization knowledge such as Docker, Kubernetes

Preference given to candidates that also have experience with Angular, Node, Typescript

Preference given to candidates that write / use tooling to facilitate / streamline their work

A TDD mindset to write unit tests, integration tests, and end-to-end tests
