The Volunteer’s Role

Cuso International is excited to broaden its reach across Canada, Latin America, and the Caribbean by raising awareness about development challenges and amplifying community voices. We are looking to craft a dynamic short- and medium-term communications strategy for the Honduras Country Program Office (CPO) and produce engaging communications materials. Volunteers will work closely with the CPO team and report to the Communications, Information and Resource Development Officer for Latin America and the Caribbean.

As a volunteer, you will:

• Contribute to the expansion of Cuso International’s publications on impactful work in Latin America and the Caribbean through content creation, case studies, and policy recommendations.
• Develop graphic designs, multimedia content, and social media updates showcasing Cuso Latin America’s activities and volunteer efforts.
• Assist in training staff, volunteers, and partners on effective communication and technical team management.
• Support the extraction and dissemination of lessons learned from communication initiatives.
• Perform various related tasks as assigned by the Communications, Information and Resource Development Officer for Latin America and the Caribbean.

Requirements

Essential Requirements:

• A degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or a related field.

Essential Background:

• 4-5 years of professional experience related to the field, demonstrating excellent writing, editing, and communication abilities; experience in creating both print and digital communication materials
• Capability to facilitate training sessions focused on effective communication techniques
• Preferred: Proficiency in design software such as Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator

Support Package

Cuso International provides a comprehensive support package to ensure volunteers maintain a modest and healthy lifestyle aligned with local standards. This includes:

Selection and Screening

If you are shortlisted, you will need to:

• Confirm passport or permanent resident details for travel
• Provide two professional references and one personal reference
• Complete a language assessment during the initial phone interview
• Pass a police check and medical clearance before departure
• Comply with anti-terrorism checks
• Agree to uphold the Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) policy and Code of Conduct
