Position Summary

BCIT’s School of Transportation is seeking temporary, full-time BCGEU Faculty, Aviation Operations Programs .

BCIT’s Aviation Operations team in the School of Transportation requires temporary faculty members (up to 100% FTE) at our Aerospace Technology Campus in Richmond to teach in the Aviation Management and Operations, Airline and Flight Operations Fixed and Rotary Wing diploma programs , in the Associate Certificate in Airport Operations program, and future Flexible Learning (former Part Time Studies) courses. Please note : Appointments will be of varying durations, providing temporary coverage for both pre-scheduled and unplanned absences for full-time, permanent faculty. We are looking for experience in the follow subject areas :

  • Foundation Skills, including communication, leadership, project management, teamwork skills and technical writing
  • Airline and Airport Operations
  • Aviation Safety and Emergency Response
  • Aviation Business and Management
  • Aviation Statistics and Introductory Data Analytics
  • Aircraft Simulator Operation (ALSIM 250, X-Plane, 737 Max and Q400)

Duties & Responsibilities DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Teaching, evaluation and preparation for both online remote delivery and in-person delivery
  • Administrative responsibilities, including assignments, examination marking and student marking.
  • Curriculum maintenance and program enhancement.
  • Administrative processes required to ensure appropriate resources are in place to deliver training.
  • Working collaboratively with other instructors, Department Heads, and Associate Dean.
  • Other duties directly related to the support and delivery of the programs.
  • Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS :

  • A minimum of a diploma or higher education in the areas of Business Administration, Adult Education, and / or related aviation programmes.
  • Five years or more of experience in aviation management and / or operations
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Competent with various educational technologies including learning management systems, simulation software, MS Office, Outlook and virtual meeting platforms.
  • Experience in operating a flight simulator, desktop and / or ALSIM 250
  • A minimum of five years of experience developing course material and instructing in online and / or face-to-face delivery modes
  • Proven track record of working collaboratively and collegially with faculty and staff
  • Completion of an instructional techniques course or the Provincial Instructor Diploma an asset.
