Program Overview

Our Veterinary Technologists play a pivotal role in supporting Veterinarians to deliver exceptional medical care to our cherished patients. We are on the lookout to give a unique experience to practicum students who have a positive attitude, a thirst for knowledge and a profound commitment to nurturing the human‑animal bond. At Family Pet Hospital & 24Hr Emergency Centre we are a hybrid hospital, that allows for experience in general practice and emergency.

Practice Opportunities

• Don’t let the fear of emergencies hold you back - we understand that being prepared for the unexpected is a challenge, but don’t worry, we’ve got your back! At our hospital, we prioritize the growth and development of our RVTs, recognizing the tasks they undertake.
• NVA Canada’s VT Practicum Program offers final‑year veterinary technician students the chance to gain real‑world experience in a supportive, dynamic environment.
• Work alongside experienced veterinarians and RVTs to develop your clinical skills in patient care, laboratory procedures, anesthesia, surgical assistance, radiology and more.
• Enhance your communication abilities with medical teams and clients, preparing you for a successful career as an RVT.
• Practices range from two to eight weeks, fitting your schedule and career goals.
• Eligible students—those enrolled in an accredited VT program in Canada and completing their final practicum in their final year—can receive a stipend to help with travel expenses, allowing you to focus on learning without financial worries.
