We are seeking a talented individual to join our Legal, Compliance & Public Affairs team at Marsh McLennan. This role can be based in Toronto or Montreal and is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.
As the Chief Compliance Officer of Marsh and Mercer Canada, you will act as a compliance resource for colleagues, including providing guidance with respect to adherence to Corporate Policies, applicable federal, provincial and territorial regulations, and laws including sanctions, compliance and risk management activities, and the implementation and monitoring of compliance procedures and processes.
We will count on you to :
- Ensure that our management of risk is effective and meets established corporate, industry, provincial, and federal policies, and regulations
- Respond to inquiries from colleagues regarding various compliance related issues
- Assist with new and recurring compliance activities and tasks including client file reviews, compliance policy monitoring, sanctions issues, privacy matters, Third Party Provider review and approval process and others
- Review Requests for Proposals and Requests for Information and prepare responses in compliance with Company policies
- Monitor and assess legal and compliance risks, and create and maintain compliance risk management programs
- Assist with addressing diverse insurance-related tax issues to facilitate compliance with federal, provincial, and local tax regulations.
- Keep up to date with regulatory developments and communicate changes or updates with relevant stakeholders
- Conduct internal audits, assessments, and investigations to ensure compliance with company policies and external regulations and implement appropriate corrective and follow-up actions as appropriate
- Design, develop, and deliver compliance training to employees to foster an ethical and compliant culture
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess potential legal and compliance issues related to new products, services, or technologies
- Assist in leading and reporting on organizational risk committee activities
What you need to have :
- 10+ years’ experience in the insurance industry, preferably in a compliance, regulatory or legal role
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent relationship management and interpersonal skills
- Research, information gathering, and analytical skills using a broad range of sources
- Critical thinking skills and high attention to detail
- Excellent team membership skills to work cooperatively and collaboratively with colleagues
- Strong organizational and adaptability skills to manage a diverse workload and multiple projects at the same time and keep track of multiple and varying obligations
