Job Description

Position Overview :   The Soil Wash Plant Assistant supports the efficient operation of the soil separation plant, focusing on centrifuge and material processing systems. This role operates during the hours of  3 : 00PM to 12 : 00 AM, Monday through Friday . This role involves assisting in plant operations, working closely with fellow staff members, equipment operation / maintenance, monitoring handling materials, batch mixing polymers / coagulants, and ensuring environmental and safety standards are upheld.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Assist in operating and monitoring the soil wash plant, including the centrifuge system.
  • Load and unload materials using equipment like telehandlers or excavators as required.
  • Monitor flow rates, pressures, and material quality to ensure optimal performance of the equipment.
  • Batch mixing liquid and powdered wastewater polymers and coagulants.
  • Conduct routine inspections of the centrifuge and other wash plant equipment.
  • Assist with plant / equipment : cleaning, troubleshooting, and minor repairs under supervision of fellow staff.
  • Transport soil and materials within the yard using telehandlers, excavators, or water trucks.
  • Record operating parameters, performance data, and any incidents.
  • Assist in maintaining logs and ensuring compliance with operational standards.
  • Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Adhere to environmental regulations and site-specific requirements.
  • Participate in safety training and emergency drills.

Qualifications and Skills :

  • Be punctual, reliable, and dependable.
  • Strong knowledge of equipment safety protocols and procedures.
  • Ability to interpret and follow instructions.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
  • Experience operating equipment such as telehandlers, excavators, or water trucks.
  • Familiarity with soil separation or centrifuge systems is an advantage.
  • Familiarity of wastewater polymers and coagulants is an advantage.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude for equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work in outdoor and physically demanding environments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Additional Requirements :

  • Valid Driver's G Class License, (or Greater) :  Preferred, not mandatory.
  • Availability for shift work or overtime, nights, and weekends depending on project needs.
