Note: This opportunity is a 14-month contract position, with an estimated end date of April 2027. Please note that contract roles do not include additional monetary benefits or health care coverage.

Purpose/Strategic direction for the position

• Responsible for overall organization and maintenance of laboratory & workspace environment for all Research teams at the Walkerville site
• Support the Research teams and the innovation process by researching new technologies and equipment
• Promote a collaborative environment that is safe and inclusive with a mindset of continuous learning, improvement and creativity
• Protect the integrity and quality of Pernod Ricard brands

Roles and responsibilities:

• Maintain the equipment, laboratory workspace and general activities to support the Research and Development activities in line with Pernod Ricard business strategy.
• Manage capital purchases and maintain a three year plan for the Research Laboratory
• Responsible for pilot and laboratory equipment including calibration, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, routine verification & checks, repair and all applicable documentation.
• Manage laboratory supplies (office and laboratory needs) for the Research teams
• Ensure proper Standard Operating Procedures are available, accurate and reviewed on a defined schedule
• Responsible for Health & Safety communication o Maintain site training records and documentation for all teams
• Other duties as required

Protect the quality and integrity of Pernod Ricard Brands

• Support product quality activities and initiatives (with all Research teams, Copackers and cross functional internal teams) as required. This may include but is not limited to wet goods testing and investigations, Consumer Complaints, Production Concessions, Shelf Life review
• Support the Operation team to deliver value engineering opportunities and new innovations that support business strategy
• Participate in sensory evaluations

Qualifications/profile and Key Capabilities:

• Requires University Degree or College Diploma in a scientific field (such as Chemistry, Biochemistry, Food Science, Brewing & Distilling)
• Lab and analytical experience required including a thorough technical understanding of equipment (balances, pH meter, refractometer, density meter etc)
• Ability to interpret and analyse data, review certificates, assess results for accuracy and repeatability
• Able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects.
• Team player with strong interpersonal/influencing/problem solving skills
• Ability to act with agility to address business needs
• Languages: English (strong business proficiency in written and verbal communication)

• Lifting requirements up to 40lbs
