The John Howard Society of Thunder Bay is seeking a dedicated and dynamic individual to join our team in a full-time role focused on supporting successful community reintegration. This position plays a vital role in helping individuals transition from correctional facilities back into the community by providing comprehensive case management and facilitating programs that promote stability, growth, and positive engagement.
As a Program Support & Recreation Case Manager, you will :
- Deliver individualized case management services to residents within the JHS Residence.
- Support program staff and coordinate both structured and recreational activities that foster personal development and community connection.
- Assist clients with system navigation and access to essential resources, reducing barriers to reintegration.
- Facilitate group and one-on-one sessions designed to build skills, resilience, and confidence.
Your work will directly contribute to reducing recidivism and supporting long-term success for individuals involved in the criminal legal system, making a meaningful impact on both clients and the broader community.
Education & Experience
Post Secondary Education preferably from Humanities (Social Work, Social Service Work, Addictions Counselling, etc.), Recreational Therapy, or the Education fieldsExperience in delivering programs / programmingExperience in delivering information workshops to clientsExperience with providing case management or client support servicesExperience working with vulnerable populationsWork related experience in the following areas is considered an asset : corrections, residential housing programs, mental health and addictions, poverty and homelessnessKnowledge of Criminal Legal System (is an asset)Knowledge in data collection (is an asset)Skills & Expectations
