Primary Function

The behaviour support-camps will support individuals who are exhibiting behavioural challenges while participating in a camp setting. Plan, organize and implement a high quality program that is stimulating and enjoyable for all participants. Provide supervision, guidance and coaching to staff and volunteers. Responsible for the safety and wellbeing of registered participants at all times.

Position Duties

  • Responsible for developing a behavior plan for participants requiring behavioural support
  • Assist with behavior modification of challenging participants
  • Determines behaviour capabilities of campers as they function in a camp setting
  • Designs behavioural intervention for campers
  • Implements behaviour support plans
  • Measures goals and objectives of behaviour support plans to ensure they are being met
  • Coordinates between instructors / specialists / directors and parents to implement behavioural interventions
  • Communicates with parents and facility team in regards to campers progress
  • Analyses the behavioural interventions to determine their success
  • Assists campers in identifying inappropriate behaviours and develop better behaviour alternatives
  • Reports possible cases of child abuse, neglect or endangerment to the proper authorities
  • Assist in completing administrative duties in a timely manner (i.e. completion of behaviour reports, follow up documentation, incident / accident reports, SREA)
  • Assist in recruiting, supervising, coaching and evaluating staff
  • Assist with promotion of programs
  • Assist in developing, delivering and documenting staff training and meetings
  • Responsible for pre-program family visits and integration & inclusion participant profile completion
  • Utilize specialized equipment and apparatus
  • Maintain complete vigilance while on duty and be ready to respond to any emergency situation
  • Report all concerns, accidents and incidents to immediate supervisor for follow up and take appropriate action
  • Travel between work sites during shift
  • Administer medications, as required and according to Corporate Policy
  • Maintain an understanding of department programs and services
  • Understand, adhere to, and enforce Corporate Policies & Procedures, Confidentiality Guidelines, Emergency Procedures and Health and Safety Standards for all participants and staff
  • Attend meetings / training as required
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Selection Criteria

Education

  • University Degree or College Diploma specializing in Applied Behaviour Analysis or related field considered an asset.
  • Board Certified Assistant Behaviour Analyst (BCaBA) or in progress, considered an asset
  • Required Experience

  • Minimum 1 year supervisory experience
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working with & supporting individuals living with a disability who exhibit behavioural challenges
  • Other Skills And Assests

  • Valid Ontario driver’s licence and full time use of a vehicle
  • Current Standard First Aid / CPR C from an accredited organization, or ability to obtain within 1 month of date of hire
  • High Five ® Principles of Healthy Child Development or Sport Certification, or ability to obtain within 2 months of the date of hire
  • Has knowledge of various community support organizations
  • A strong foundation in applied behaviour analysis
  • Has the ability to train other people to apply behaviour management techniques
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
