This pivotal role is dedicated to deepening the connection and engagement of their Members and Delegates with the business, their portfolio of leading brands, and elevating the Cooperative's industry presence.
This is a dynamic opportunity to strategically lead member communication, governance support, event execution, and public representation for a client deeply committed to community-building.
What you will be doing:
The successful candidate will be the strategic driver behind key member services and organizational support activities:
- Member Engagement & Communication: Design and execute a robust member engagement strategy. Lead the development and distribution of all Member communications (newsletters, digital updates, etc.) to foster strong, timely relationships.
- Governance & Administration: Manage the administrative process for the Cooperative’s core governance activities, including preparing detailed agendas and accurate minutes for Board and Committee meetings. Coordinate major events like the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Delegates Meeting, including the election and onboarding processes.
- Financial & Shareholder Support: Oversee all aspects of the Members Share Exchange and share trading activities, ensuring compliance, transparency, and accurate reporting. Support the administration of the dividend distribution process.
- Public Profile & Advocacy: Increase the Cooperative’s visibility through media relations, industry event representation, public presentations, and managing promotional agency relationships. Represent the organization on relevant industry boards and councils across Canada.
- Travel: This role requires regular travel across Canada to attend the AGM, Delegates Meetings, and other key governance/membership events.
Who You Are: Essential Experience & Attributes
You are a proactive, high-impact individual with a proven background in relationship-focused, high-stakes environments.
- Experience: A minimum of five years of professional experience within the consumer food industry, retail/food services, or cooperative sector.
- Education: A Degree or Diploma in Business Administration or a related field.
- Governance Expertise: Demonstrated experience in professional minute-taking for formal meetings.
- Initiative: You consistently take the lead without being prompted and thrive on driving action.
- Communication: An exceptional written and verbal communicator, skilled in media relations and public presentations.
- Collaboration: A natural relationship-builder who excels at coordinating cross-functional efforts and managing external partner/agency relationships.
- Organizational Acumen: Highly detail-oriented, able to manage multiple complex projects (including large-scale event logistics) while maintaining composure under pressure.
- Technical Skills: Proficient with productivity tools (e.g., PowerPoint, Excel) and comfortable translating marketing strategy into successful outcomes across digital and traditional channels.
