Position Location : Ottawa Distribution Site - Microbiology Canada

Day / Shift (if applicable) : 8 : 30 AM-5 : 00 PM Monday-Thursday and 8 : 30 AM-4 : 30 PM Friday

Position Summary :

Join our exceptionally skilled team at Thermo Fisher Scientific as a Material Handler I. This outstanding opportunity allows you to play a crucial role in our world-class operations, strictly ensuring the flawless execution of warehouse tasks.

Responsibilities :

  • Process both outbound and in-bound shipments with precision.
  • Follow all accurate safety protocols and PPE requirements.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, adhering strictly to departmental and company policies.
  • Apply different shipping systems to dispatch outbound shipments.
  • Efficiently prioritize and communicate daily tasks to meet site goals.
  • Collaborate ambitiously with coworkers to achieve team, department, and company metrics.
  • Support Quality Objectives by reporting corrective and preventive actions for continuous improvement.
  • Perform all duties according to company SOPs and Quality System requirements.
  • Operate machinery safely, perform simple maintenance, and report malfunctions.
  • Assess workplace safety and ergonomic correctness continuously.
  • Report property damage and safety hazards immediately.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical / Environmental Requirements :

Physical Activities :

  • Stands / walks : 90%, intermittently throughout the day.
  • Keyboarding : 5%
  • Handles papers : 10%
  • Use of various warehouse equipment : 50%
  • Stoops, bends, lifts : 90%

    • Level of Physical Requirements :

  • Lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly.

    • Level of Visual Acuity :

  • Prolonged computer use : 5%

    • Environmental Conditions :

  • Warehouse environment : 100%

    • Minimum Requirements / Qualifications :

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with minimal direction.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs. Push / pull up to 600 lbs skids.
  • Operate Lift Truck, Hand Truck.
  • Stand for sustained periods, approximately 8 hours a day.

    • Non-Negotiable Hiring Criteria :

  • Must possess basic English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Must comprehend and follow both written and verbal English communications.
  • Must perform basic math calculations.
