Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and supervise daily operations in the metal fabrication shop to ensure timely and efficient production.
- Lead and mentor production staff, including welders, machine operators, assemblers, and support personnel.
- Develop and maintain production schedules, adjusting as necessary to meet demand and resolve bottlenecks.
- Monitor workflow, ensuring adherence to quality standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality assurance, and supply chain teams to optimize manufacturing processes.
- Implement and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for productivity, quality, and safety.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and waste minimization using Lean Manufacturing or similar methodologies.
- Oversee inventory management, including raw materials, work‑in‑progress, and finished goods.
- Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of machinery and equipment.
- Address and resolve production issues, employee concerns, and client feedback as required.
Skills & Qualifications
Post‑secondary education in engineering, manufacturing, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.Minimum 5 years of experience in structural and miscellaneous steel or metal building fabrication, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.Strong knowledge of fabrication techniques, welding, CNC operations, and finishing processes.Demonstrated leadership, team‑building, and communication skills.Proficient with production planning and ERP / MRP systems.Understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations applicable to Canadian metalworking industries.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documents.Problem‑solving mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement.Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement tools is an asset.Benefits
