Dilawri Group In Ontario is now actively searching for an experienced automotive Controller to join our team at Audi Queensway . The role oversees the accounting function for multiple dealerships. Travel will be required between dealerships and our regional head office in Mississauga.
This role is suitable for candidates who :
- Have experience in a Controller's role, in a dealership environment
- Is a graduate of an accounting academic program, either college or university level
- Strong knowledge of CDK and OneEighty
Responsibilities :
Supervise, lead and direct all aspect of the Accounting DepartmentImplement systems, scheduling and procedures in the Accounting DepartmentControl and manage Dealership financial activities, such as the cash flow, preparation of the budget, auditing of the books of accounts, purchases, fixed assets and insuranceSupervise all accounting functions and staffMonitor the supervision of accounts receivable and sales / purchases of vehicle documentationCooperate with the dealer in the long-term planning, cash flow management and the allocation of fundsMonitor monthly and year-to-date operating statementsSupervise the preparation of write-off depreciation and prepaid expensesAnalyze and review wholesale liability – lease and rental vehicles against amount shown by the financial companyConduct an analytical review of monthly financial statements highlighting; deviations from budget, unusual increases / decreases in revenue and expenses, providing explanations for eachDesign accounting policies and procedures for all departmentsKeep in touch with financial institutions regarding lines of credit and fund managementAnalyze studies of general economic, business and financial conditions, as well as their repercussions on the Dealership’s policies and operationsSupervise and manage the production of the Dealership’s annual reportEvaluate the Dealership’s financial position and issue regular financial and operating reportsEnsure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the maintenance of the Dealership’s financial structure to derive maximum tax benefitsEnsure that all financial activities of the Dealership are accurately carried out, documented and recordedSupport the General Manager in managing cash flows and follow-up on ongoing contracts and accounts receivablesWork with the General Manager in preparing the financial forecasts and budgets for each departmentRepresent the dealer both within the Dealership and with respect to external activitiesPrepare the detailed monthly financial statements, in keeping with the dealer’s instructions and the manufacturer’s time frame and format; ensure that all manufacturer accounts are up-to-date and accurate, in particular those concerning warranty claims, discounts, interest rate protection and industry advertisingNegotiate and supervise the various supplier contractsRegularly analyze financial reports and the daily control of operations, and notify the General Manager of developing trendsApprove credit before customer accounts are openedEstablish an account collection policy and supervise the follow-up of accounts receivableIssue detailed financial statements and management reports for the department managersMaintain an efficient cash flow management system, to provide for cash needs, and make recommendations for the profitable use of surplus cashManage the evaluation of the amortization rates applicable to the fixed assetsAnalyze the ledger and the accounts recordedReview the reconciliation of the accounts in the general ledger with external resources, to ensure that bank reconciliation, reserve accounts, accounts payable to the manufacturer and inventory financing are accurateKeep up-to-date on amendments to the Income Tax Act and notify the General Manager of any operational adjustments requiredEnsure compliance with all government financial regulationsEstablish reserves for losses to cover contingent liabilitiesEnsure that all office employees use appropriate accounting methods and maintain accurate recordsParticipate in management meetings providing the documents required for such meetings to proceedMeet with department managers to examine the financial statements, and stress the situation in need of improvement, if applicableApprove adjustments to the inventory accountsPrepare a daily management reportRecruit, interview, hire, train and dismiss accounting employeesEnsure that all employee records are current and completeSupervise the administration of Group Health Plan and other benefits / programsPerform other tasks, based on management requirements and instructionsQualifications :
University degree or equivalent in the field of Chartered AccountingDesignation preferred : CA, CGA, CMADemonstrated knowledge and understanding of the overall operation of a retail automotive dealership accounting proceduresStrong computer literacyDemonstrated excellent interpersonal skills - must be an effective communicator both verbally and in writingDemonstrated high degree of common sense and intellect with a well developed business acumenDemonstrated ability to prioritize tasks for self and others and follow them through to completionDemonstrated recognition that customer satisfaction is the prime concern of the dealershipProven ability to lead and motivate othersAn understanding and a willingness to allow others to learn through experienceDemonstrated ability to co-ordinate activities of all dealership departmentsProven and demonstrated history of successful departmental and personnel managementThorough understanding of expense control re : inventory, floor plan, and personnelExcellent oral and written communication skillsOrganizational ability and attention to detailAbility to work in a team environment to achieve common goalsWhat We Offer :
