Grinder Operator

Overview

Join to apply for the Grinder Operator role at Voith Paper in Hawkesbury, Ontario.

Under general direction of the Production Supervisor, the incumbent will perform a series of operations related to grinding non-metallic materials and preparing rolls for papermaking.

Responsibilities

• Inspect journals for score marks or any damage and report to supervisor any occurrences.
• Clean babbitt post.
• Ensure that the supporting surface is round and concentric with the bearing surface.
• Position and secure cylinder with universal joint and both steady rest.
• Align and level roll.
• Ensure all specifications on the work order match roll and / or blueprint.
• Determine which grinding wheel or belt to use.
• Program crown when applicable.
• Remove nylon binders when applicable.
• Engage work feed.
• Program control to adjust depth of removal, grinding speed and feed rates.
