Job Summary
The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for overseeing daily logistics operations ensuring efficient and cost-effective processes for inbound and outbound shipments. This role includes coordinating delivery schedules optimizing load planning maintaining carrier relationships and ensuring compliance with customs and company standards. The Logistics Coordinator also acts as a primary point of contact between departments carriers and vendors.
Duties and responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate appointment bookings for all inbound and outbound shipments while ensuring delivery accuracy.
- Manage and maintain logistics databases including carrier freight records and ERP systems.
- Develop and execute load plans in collaboration with the Logistics Load Planners.
- Prepare review and verify customs paperwork addressing discrepancies proactively.
- Monitor and communicate updates regarding shipment statuses to relevant departments and external stakeholders.
- Identify and resolve logistics-related issues to ensure timely and efficient deliveries.
- Analyze transportation costs recommending strategies to improve cost efficiency.
- Build and maintain relationships with carriers vendors and internal teams to optimize operations.
- Assist in training and mentoring junior logistics team members.
- Lead or contribute to special projects to enhance the logistics workflow.
- Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements related to transportation and customs.
- Other core expectations as defined by the company.
Requirements and Skills
Post-secondary diploma or degree in Logistics Supply Chain Management Business Administration or related field required.Minimum of three (3) years of logistics or supply chain experience including load planning and customs processes.Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook) and ERP software; experience with Famous software is an asset.Exceptional organizational analytical and problem-solving skills.Strong interpersonal and communication abilities to interact effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.Proven ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.Demonstrated leadership capabilities and attention to detail.Familiarity with industry regulations and customs requirements.Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities while maintaining a customer-focused mindset.Working conditions
Hours of work may vary depending on business needs; flexibility is required.Role requires the ability to listen and speak to other employees.Role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers phones photocopiers filing cabinets and fax machines. Specific vision capabilities required; the employee is to work in front of a computer sitting and / or standing for prolonged periods is required.The position may involve needing to lift to 30 pounds occasionally up to 50-pounds (e.g. filing boxes).Compensation & Benefits
