Description:
Activity leaders bring life into the activities program of an ILSC Summer Junior Camp. They provide an experience which is fun, engaging and culturally enriching for students. They supervise the students outside the classroom, overseeing their welfare, safety, and discipline at all times.
Activity Leaders work on a part-time basis, up to hours per week during the Summer Camp period ( weeks). Activity Leaders must commute to and from the program location and are paid an hourly rate.
Work Schedule and Timeline
The Activity Leader role is a full-time, fixed-term position. Due to the nature of the work, your hours may vary and may be irregular.
The schedule, timeline and hourly requirements are as follows:
- Part-time to Full-time hours on-site at ILSC Toronto will begin on June , , until August , .
- Pre-program staff training will take place on June , and June , at the ILSC Toronto campus.
Job Duties:
The duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Greet students at airport upon their arrival and connect them with the driver assigned to bring them to their homestay
- Assist the Junior Program Manager and Activity Coordinator with the Student Orientation on the morning of the first day of the program each week (typically Mondays) at the ILSC Toronto campus, by leading initial ‘getting to know you’ activities, as well as assisting students with public transit cards and SIM cards, and any other orientation tasks, as directed by the Program Manager and Activity Coordinator
- Attend daily staff meetings for to review the day’s activities and to plan for the following day
- Supervise students during assigned activities and groups during excursions
- Ensure the health and safety, welfare, and discipline of students, by being attentive to incidents of discrimination, bullying, or conflict between students and alerting the Junior Camp management staff-the Centre Director, Activity Coordinator, or Academic Manager of any issues
- Complete student attendance reports as required and advise the Junior Camp management team of any absences or lateness or behavioral issues
- Assist the Activity Coordinator, and on occasion, the agents and accreditation inspectors, in the observation and evaluation of activities
- Attend daily staff meetings to review the day’s activities and to plan for the following day
- Other duties as assigned
Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes:
Essential
- Experience working with teenagers in a camp or extra-curricular activity environment
- Background in winter sports, and social media
- Enthusiasm, energy, and motivational skills
Desirable
- CPR / First Aid / Lifeguard certification
- English (speaking Spanish or Portuguese is an asset)
